1. Intention (Niyyah)
Face the qiblah and intend in your heart which prayer you are about to perform. The intention is an act of the heart — it is not pronounced aloud according to the majority of scholars.
Scholars differ: Scholars differ on saying the intention aloud; the majority hold that it is not established from the Prophet ﷺ.
