Common mistakes in prayer
- Rushing through the prayer without stillness (tuma'ninah) in each position — the Prophet ﷺ told a man who prayed hastily to return and pray again (Sahih al-Bukhari 757).
- Not reciting Surah Al-Fatihah in every rak'ah.
- Lifting the forehead or nose off the ground during prostration.
- Praying before the prayer time has entered.
- Letting the mind wander without any effort to return attention to the prayer.
What invalidates the prayer
- Deliberately speaking during the prayer.
- Excessive movement unrelated to the prayer.
- Leaving a pillar (rukn) of the prayer intentionally, such as ruku' or sujood.
- Loss of wudu.
- Eating or drinking during the prayer.
- Turning away from the qiblah without a valid reason.
